Listening to The Cure song "Friday I am in Love"..I was wondering why can't I seem to like the contemporary music. I mean I am still not past 30 or married, so I am still not middle aged and in this age of youtube, and smart phones it is not difficult to keep oneself unexposed to the current music. So is it that my music senses haven't evolved enough to understand or comprehend the music that is being created these days. I mean ok, I won't be listening to beiber, but although I enjoy artists like Adele and Taylor Swift, I still can't seem to feel the connection with their music as I do with the yesteryear's bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam or even Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park or even a Bryan Adams. I believe a lot of it is due to the fact that the popular music in general depicts or is rooted in the lifestyle of the current generation, and I am somehow very unattenuated to it. I absolutely can not tolerate the nonsense being shown in the TV in the name of Reality TV entertainment, I am totally unaware of the new age sensibilities if there is anything like that. So yes may be I am a dinosaur in the age of mammals, but man the music I listen to brings meaning to my life like nothing else. And BTW I am listening to Johny Cash's covering Nine Inch Nail's Hurt, it is awesome and has got some 50 million views on youtube....so "Old is indeed Gold"......:)
